In the "Workshop & Cafe" corner on the first floor, you can experience paper cutting using the sketches of paper cutting artist Osamu Kubo. There are three options available, so please choose the one that suits you best.
- Available hours: 10:30-16:00 (last entry at 15:00)
- Children under elementary school age are not allowed to use the facility alone. Please make sure they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Anyone can try paper cutting
- No reservations required.
- Visitors can try their hand at paper cutting by showing their admission ticket for the day.
- The experience is limited to one hour or two pieces.
- Please note that the paper cutting experience for everyone will be held at the same location as the introductory workshop course, which requires prior reservation, so you may not be able to experience paper cutting.
- Supported language is Japanese only.
Workshop Introduction Course
- This is a workshop led by staff. (Held every day)
- Advance reservations are required. Please make reservations via our website or by phone at least two weeks in advance.
- If you cancel on the day without permission, a 100% cancellation fee will be charged.
- Reservations are accepted from 1 person (maximum 10 people)
- Please contact us for group reservations.
- Reservations for the introductory course cannot be made on the days of the KUBO Shu workshop.

Workshop Introduction Course
KUBO Shu Workshop
- This is a course where you can receive direct instruction from paper cutting artist KUBO Shu. (Held only on days when KUBO Shu visits the museum.)
- Advance reservations are required. Please make reservations via our website or by phone at least two weeks in advance.
- If you cancel within 3 days of the event, a full cancellation fee will be charged.
- Reservations are accepted from 1 person (maximum 10 people)
- The menu is three courses.

1. Today's Paper Cutting Class (90 minutes)

2. Shibugami Course (90 minutes)

You will create two-dimensional and three-dimensional paper cutouts using the extremely strong and durable properties of "Shibugami." The colors of the finished works will deepen over time, allowing you to enjoy them even more.* Comes with a shibugami paper and sketch that you can enjoy at home

3. Technical course (90 minutes)
5,500 yen/person
We will teach you in an easy-to-understand and thorough manner, from sketching to creating the most important preliminary design in paper cutting. You will also learn how to create colors and glue. *You may bring your own sketch when creating the rough sketch. *If you bring your own sketches or paper cuttings, you will be able to gain a new perspective from Kubo Osamu. * Details of the event (this is tentative, so please ask when making a reservation) April, July, October, January: "Drawing a sketch" - Create a sketch using ink or black pen
January, April, July, October "Color Creation" ~ Creating colors with acrylic paint using bokashiami
